Orange Pi Zero Cluster
This is a home-built cluster of Orange Pi Zero boards.
The cluster was built in summer 2017. Orange Pi Zero was chosen for several reasons:
- Half the price of Raspberry Pi
- Half the size of Raspberry Pi
- Native support in Fedora
- Includes a 2MB NOR Flash, enough for U-Boot (no SD Card magic required)
The cluster consists of 15 boards in three columns of five. Two 5-port USB chargers power the boards via custom cut and spliced cables so that one port can power two boards. A 16 port network switch provides connectivity via custom cut cat5 cables. Two 40mm fans per column provide cooling.
The cluster - with 15 Orange Pi boards - has 60 cores and 7.5GB RAM.
